Juliet Remmers
Juliet Remmers is a dance artist and educator whose work embodies her core values of care, collaboration, and belonging. Originally from Lawrence, Kansas, she discovered her passion for movement at a young age, immersing herself in classical and contemporary ballet at the Lawrence Arts Center (LAC). Other training includes Paul Taylor, Limón, Tulsa Ballet, Movement Research, Open Source Forms, and Cloud Gate Dance Theatre. She earned her BA in Dance from the University of Kansas (KU), where her work Sea Eddy earned a coveted spot in the University Dance Company's Spring Concert. She toured in Jane Gotch’s duet Let it Fall, and performed in LAC’s Peter and the Wolf, A Kansas Nutcracker, and The Runaway Orchestra. She was commissioned to choreograph ODD : EVEN for Lawrence Ballet Theater (RDA/Midstates) and directed a new Thumbelina for LAC youth dancers. She was invited back to KU as a guest lecturer in modern and contemporary dance, teaching for five semesters. Later, Juliet earned her MFA in Dance with a performance emphasis and taught at the University of Iowa (UI). Her co-directed thesis with Michael Landez–Timeless Motion—featured her in José Limón’s The Moor’s Pavane and new works by Janet Charleston and Joshua L. Peugh, weaving choreographies with conversation. Recent projects include the film Sojourner (2024) by Anahita Ghazvinizadeh, Lex Leto's Dreamscape, and collaboration with JULIMAR (Elizabeth Rodriguez-Fielder and Mariana Tejeda) for Public Space One's Open Air Media Festival (2024). Beyond performance pursuits, Juliet nurtures growth for students of all ages. She is a registered yoga teacher (RYT- 200) and has attended Level 2 teacher training with Lisa Howell and Beverly Spell. Juliet currently serves as the Artistic Associate and Curriculum Coordinator for the UI Youth Ballet and Community Dance School, where she plays a vital role in shaping the next generation of dancers and fostering a love for movement within the community, evident in her 2024 leadership of An Evening of Saint-Saëns. She also contributes her expertise as an instructor at Nolte Academy, where she shares her passion for dance with pre-professional and recreational ballet students.
