Zoe Miller
Zoe Miller (she/her/hers) is a midwest-based choreographer, performer, and teacher originally from Athens, OH. Miller holds a BFA in performance and choreography from Ohio University and an MFA in dance with a choreography emphasis from the University of Iowa. Zoe has had the honor of working with, and learning from choreographers such as Alexandra Beller, Aaron Samuel Davis, Travis Gatling, Alice Klock and Florian Lochner.
Miller’s research investigates the differences between [multi vs inter]-disciplinarity of theatrical design in limitless space in addition to creating scenographic spaces that change in architecture and energy as its occupants shift their roles or tasks. In addition, interactivity is often exercised in her works as a way to create an immersive spectator experience. She is fascinated by geometrical conceptualization of performance architecture, in relation to both site and object.
In consideration of the spaces that she inhabits, Miller’s work explores scenographic world building. As such, she is drawn to performing her works in non-traditional theatrical settings. A quote by Hubert Goddard can further summarize some of Zoe’s excitement to analyze space: “I’m in the space and the space is in me”.
